  • Spectre Snorkel trips are designed for families, kids, teens, first-time snorkelers, and anyone looking for a relaxed, full-day Channel Islands experience without scuba diving.

    No prior snorkeling experience is required.

  • Yes. These trips are family-friendly and designed with kids in mind.

    We recommend this trip for children who are comfortable in the water and able to follow crew instructions. If you’re unsure whether the trip is right for your child, please contact us and we’re happy to help you decide.

  • There is no minimum age for Spectre Snorkel trips.

    That said, all guests should be comfortable in the water and able to follow crew instructions. If you’re unsure whether the trip is a good fit for your child, feel free to reach out — we’re happy to help you decide.

  • Guests should be comfortable in the water. Strong swimming skills are helpful but not required.

    Flotation devices are available upon request, and our crew is always nearby to assist.

  • No. Participation is always optional.

    Guests are welcome to relax on deck, enjoy the scenery, and watch wildlife if they prefer not to snorkel or need a break.

  • Yes. All snorkel gear is included:

    • Mask

    • Snorkel

    • Fins

    • Wetsuit

    If you prefer to bring your own gear, you’re welcome to do so.

  • Yes — there's a minimum for the wetsuit.

    Wetsuits: our smallest fit guests 70 lbs and up. Guests under 70 lbs should bring their own for proper fit and warmth.

    Fins: standard fins fit men's shoe size 4 and up. Toddler-size fins are available — ask at check-in.

    Our crew helps with sizing at the dock. Properly fitting gear matters for comfort and safety.

  • Toddler-size fins are available at check-in. For wetsuits, if your child is under 70 lbs, bring your own to ensure a comfortable fit.

  • Water temperatures at the Channel Islands are cooler than many expect.

    Wetsuits are provided to keep you comfortable, and there are plenty of opportunities to warm up between snorkel sessions.

  • Yes. Crew members are in the water during snorkeling sessions and remain on deck at all times to provide guidance and assistance.

  • Wildlife sightings vary by day, but often include:

    • Garibaldi and other reef fish

    • Kelp forests

    • Sea lions and harbor seals

    Wildlife sightings are not guaranteed, but they are common.

  • That’s completely okay.

    The day is flexible, and breaks are encouraged. Guests can snorkel as much or as little as they like. Our crew is happy to help kids ease in at their own pace.

  • Full day. Check-in 8:30 AM, departure around 9. We spend the day at one snorkel location — Anacapa or Santa Cruz, conditions decide. Cruise home starts 2:00–2:30. Back at the dock around four.

    Weather depending. Exact times vary by day.

  • Yes — all meals are included and served onboard.

    Breakfast on departure: hot breakfast sandwiches, yogurt, pastries, oatmeal, fresh fruit, coffee and tea.

    BBQ lunch around midday: tri tip, chicken, or veggie burger.

    Snacks and drinks all day.

    Dietary restrictions? Bring supplemental snacks just in case.

  • Yes. The Spectre is equipped with two restrooms onboard, both with hot showers.

  • We recommend bringing:

    • Swimsuit (wear it under your clothes)

    • Towel

    • Sunscreen

    • Hat

    • Warm layers

    • Reusable water bottle

  • If you or your child are prone to seasickness, we recommend taking preventative measures before the trip.

    Staying hydrated, eating a light breakfast, and bringing motion sickness remedies can help. If you have questions, feel free to contact us.

  • Safety always comes first.

    If weather or ocean conditions are not suitable for snorkeling, the crew may adjust the itinerary, locations, or activities to ensure a safe and enjoyable day.

  • No. This is a snorkel-only trip. No scuba diving takes place on these trips.

  • Cancellation terms are in your booking confirmation email. Optional Trip Protection is available at booking. If we cancel for weather, we'll work with you to reschedule. Questions? Email info@spectreboat.com.

  • Spectre Snorkel is operated by the experienced crew behind the Spectre Dive Boat, with years of Channel Islands experience.
